Known as the matriarch of Vancouver’s vertical micro-drama industry with 27 on-screen credits, Carin champions higher production quality, stronger storytelling, and safe, people-centered sets.
Her values-driven production company, WEC Films (pronounced we see), is a partnership with her son, director of photography Indiana Wilson. Together, they lead with heart, collaboration, and a commitment to meaningful film experiences.
From writing/directing/producing a vertical series in Costa Rica, to filming an award-winning short in an off-grid cabin, to developing a mature love-story proof of concept vertical, set on a ranch in Pemberton—every WEC Films project is an adventure built on passion and purpose.

Carin Smolinski is an actress, director, producer based in Vancouver, B.C known for her passion for bringing complex characters to the screen. As a former student of June Whittaker who was a student of Meisner, Carin skillfully navigates roles that range from wicked to quirky, crafting rich backstories and inner dialogues for her characters. Recently completing her 27th vertical web series, Carin has established herself as a sought after matriarch in the Vancouver web series scene. Her production of Butterfly Wings has garnered accolades on the film festival circuit including Best Actress, Best Cinematography (Indiana Wilson), best female director. Carin dives into each project with gusto and absolutely delights at being a working actress during this season of her life.
